This tutorial explain how to create material
that reflect magical stuff or
mostly like abstract reflect. You can make your
material in max relfecting what
u really want. I deserve this tutorial for all
the people and friends who wait so long
for me to create it . It well gifted!
[ first step]

Start by opening photoshop. File > New >
about 1024*768 (note: if you want more high rez
quality, make you're image bigger). This part
of the tutorial need your skills to create abstract
thing. So the only thing you have to do , is to
create an image , you want your material in 3dsmax
to reflect. Here, i've taken one of my walls,
Last futur.(Note that this image you've created
will be the background of your material, The diffuse
color(optional but better) and the reflecting
material.)
[ second step. ]

Now that we got our reflecting image, let close
photoshop and jump into 3DSMAX. All the viewports
in front of you, let specify our viewport configuration.
CUSTOMIZE > VIEWPORTS CONFIGURATION. Go into
layout tab.On the window type, choose the first
one. only one view- port. Click on this window,
it should replace the 4 viewports by that one.
Now right-click on the unique big window and select
PERSPECTIVE. Choose OK.

You should now have similar thing like the left
image show you.
[ third step ]

Yes, the magical part is coming! :) Create some
object . The object you want, it doesnt matter.
It those object who will make your artworks trendy!
I choose to create cube. (Note: The object can
be found in the OBJECT TAB) Make a selection of
all this cube, and choose a color.( The color
is in the righter tab, in NAME AND COLOR, the
colored square)
[ fourth step ]

Now is the texture part. Press M to open the
texture editor. (for those who don't know what
is this dialog popup) click here.<a href="rmaterial_texeditor.jpg">(open
java popup) Click on the first sphere u got ,
in the upper left. We got some tab under it.

Click on the MAPS tab. It scroll down many options.
We will only working with Diffuse color, and Reflection.
Check Diffuse color check box, and click on the
small tab to his right. Double click on BITMAP(AKA
FILES)Select the file you've created in photoshop.(yeah
the absract one) Click ok. Wow, the sphere has
taken you're image look. COol!:) You can look
at the left image to see what i got as far
as we are.
*** Make sure to select MATERIAL #1 instead of
MAP #1 (DIFFUSE)
[ fourth step ]

Reflection part. Always in Texture editor, on
maps tabs, check the Reflection check box and
choose again, you're image to make this sphere
reflect it. Look to your left to see what i got
:) . Ok, now how can i apply these texture to
my cubes or you're objects ? Simply drag the modified
sphere, to you're objects selection.

*TALAM*, now when you will render the result,
the objects will show the texture we
make em.
[ fifth step ]

Final part, the most beautiful. You can close
the texture editor. We are finish with it. Click
on RENDERING(In menu , FILE , EDIT , TOOLS...)
and select ENVIRONNEMENT. (NOTE that you can make
another version of your inital image, with typography
and all this before you render it, or you can
make small things after the render :) ) Always
in environnement, select your file for the background.
You must have the same background or approximative
one because we got material reflecting that background,
so putting another one will completly fake your
artwork. Ok, it the end, now RENDERING > RENDER
!

[ tips ]
You can play with light (founded in the LIGHT
& CAMERA tab) to make you object look
thousands times more cool!! No final product.
DO it on your own :)
